Mimmo Miccolis



Biography

Mimmo Miccolis is an Italian-born dancer and choreographer. He graduated from the Italian dance academies Fondazione Niccolò Piccinni and Balletto di Toscana. Miccolis is one of the winners of the BBC Performing Arts Fund 20ll. Works choreographed in London include RIGHTS (?) (on violation of human rights), LUST LOST LAST (on human trafficking), a flash mob for the OBR UK Art Festival (addressing the issue of violence against women), and the music video Creature by Aurora Lee. In Italy, Miccolis was a dancer with RBR Dance Company and with the Evolution Dance Theatre, as well as assistant choreographer to Anthony Heinl for the Magiie Danza of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and for the Evolution Dance Theatre. Further experience includes performances in operas such as La Traviata, Carmen, and Satyricon (in Spain, Oman, France, Albania, and Italy); in the Italian TV show Domenica In, and in the American movie Rome.

Dancers/choreographers from Italy (Miccolis) and Austria (Benedikt) collaborate on a contemporary dance program entitled “An Evening for Humanity,” which features the American premiere of Miccolis’ Rights(?) and the world premiere of Benedikt and Miccolis’ Growth. The duo develops contemporary dance on the edge of innovation and human need. Presented with support from the Embassy of Italy.
