Francisco Vielma


Francisco Vielma, Multi-percussionist/Arranger/Composer born in Mérida-Venezuela. He starts in the musical world at ten years old singing and playing Venezuelan cuatro at the Conservatory of The Andes University. In 1999, Francisco joined the “Orchestral Symphonic System” for 3 years in his hometown while he was also a member of the "Ensamble Kimbandú"; with the former, he made research trips to study the Afro descendant music of three States of Venezuela. He has been involved in recording projects and tours in Venezuela, Mexico and South Korea with renowned musicians from his country. He also taught percussion, harmony and ensembles at Taller de Jazz Caracas from 2005-2010. In the United States, Francisco has played with the Grammy winning Paul Winter Consort, Javier Limon, Victor Mendoza, Luis Enrique, Eguie Castrillo and has toured the country with Occidental Gypsy. Vielma studied composition at the University of Arts, and percussion at Caracas Free Percussion Cathedra in Venezuela. Currently, Francisco lives Boston-U.S.A where he pursued a Bachelor degree at Berklee College of Music awarded with a scholarship. Nowadays, he is working in an album where he showcases the most important songwriters of his country. Francisco Vielma released two albums in 2009 as a co-producer: Nuevas Almas - “INESPERADO” and Urban Acoustic Movement –“MAU EN VIVO”
