The Montgomery County Public Schools Senior Honors Jazz Ensemble



Biography

The Montgomery County Senior High School Honors Jazz Ensemble (MCPS) is a select group of 10th, 11th and 12th grade students from various high schools in Montgomery County, Maryland.  Students audition to be a part of the high school jazz ensemble whose season runs from mid-October through mid-December of each year. The students are challenged to learn a wide variety of big band literature as well as develop their skills as improvising jazz soloists.

In its 32nd season, this ensemble is composed of students from more than 22 area high schools and has performed at such venues as the East Coast Jazz Festival and Blues Alley.
