Biography

Violinist Daisy Castro was first introduced to the music of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli on a trip to France as a small child. Intrigued as a listener from the start, over the years she found this music to be a perfect fit for her playing style. Daisy’s ability to embody this passionate and beautiful music from such an early age has charmed and amazed audiences both here and abroad, and has landed her on stage with some of the finest players in Europe and the U.S. Herwhirlwind career so far has found her at some pretty impressive venues, including Birdland, Djangofest Northwest, Blues Alley, Cape May Jazz Festival, and Festival Django Reinhardt. Daisy is happy to be among the new generation of players to help bring this beautiful music from the past, into the future, respecting the tradition, while adding a modern edge.
