Kristen Koyama

Kristen Koyama began her taiko drumming career with Odaiko New England in 2002. As a member of the group's core performing ensemble from 2005-2010, she amassed countless hours of performance experience throughout New England in venues ranging from backyard birthday parties to Fenway Park. Since moving to Washington, DC in 2010, Kristen has been sharing the art of taiko with local audiences as a member of the taiko trio, Kizuna. Kristen plays taiko for the physical challenge of it, and for the unique and powerful voice that it brings to the Japanese-American community.
