Julia Dawson


Canadian mezzo-soprano Julia Dawson was a winner of the Vocal Arts DC 2014 Art Song Discovery Competition. She also appeared in concert during the 2014-2015 season at New York’s Merkin Hall, performing in New York Festival of Song’s Caramoor Rising Stars program. Currently in her second year as an Artist-in-Residence at Philadelphia’s prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts, she has appeared at that institution in many principal roles, as well as with Opera Philadelphia’s Double Exposure program of events. Ms. Dawson, who has received awards from the George London Foundation and the Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions, received her B.M. from Oberlin Conservatory and her M.M. from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University.
