Biography

Officially formed in November 1852, the United States Naval Academy Band has established a reputation for outstanding musical support to the Brigade of Midshipmen and the surrounding community, blending tradition and change into a wide variety of musical styles.

The United States Naval Academy Band, “The Navy’s Oldest and Finest,” has been providing music for the Brigade of Midshipmen and surrounding community since 1852. This premier military band offers world-class ensembles which perform a variety of musical styles, ranging from classical to contemporary.The band’s Brass Ensemble is made up of members of the brass and percussion sections. This group, led by Lieutenant Commander Diane E. Nichols, performs public concerts at the Academy and in the community.

The group plays a wide range of music from the Renaissance through the 21st century.
