The Woodrow Wilson High School Vocal Music Program


The Woodrow Wilson High School (WWHS) Vocal Music Program is comprised of the Concert Choir, Women's Choir, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and The Wilson Singers.  They pride themselves in maintaining academic excellence, commitment and dedication to skilled music making, honor in their school, and a positive collaborative involvement within their community.  The choirs have performed for many school-related cultural enrichment activities and community service / partnership events held at The John F. Kennedy Center, Office of the Attorney General, Office of the Mayor, U.S. Department of Labor, Washington National Airport, The Washington Post, DAR Constitution Hall, Washington National Cathedral, Washington Convention Center, DC Public Schools, National Music Festivals, places of worship within the Metropolitan area, and other venues.  The WWHS Vocal Music program recently won the Outstanding Choral Group Trophy, Sweepstakes Trophy, and 1st Place wins at the Annapolis WorldStrides Heritage Festival in the Vocal Jazz, Women's Choir and Concert Choir categories.  They've been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall and The Strathmore's Festival of Gold for the upcoming school year.

The WWHS Vocal Music Program is under the direction of Lori Williams (  Ms. Williams was recognized as an outstanding Music Teacher in the October 2000 issue of Teaching Music magazine. She was also recognized as a 2005-2006 National Honor Roll's Outstanding American Teacher; and was the recipient of the 2007 Superintendent's Arts Teacher of the Year Award.  Additionally, Lori Williams was the 2010 Vincent E. Reed Teacher of the Year and 2014 Helen Hayes Nominee for her role as Ella in Ladies Swing The Blues – A Jazz Fable.
