The Academy Blues Project

THE ACADEMY BLUES PROJECT is a multi-genre band founded in 2012 and based in New York City.

ABP falls in a lineage of brazen New York showbands, and their tunes pack a punch - blending funk grooves, dynamic storytelling and the bluesy wail of frontman Mark Levy into an irresistibly eccentric sound. Their propulsive live shows skew toward the outrageously theatrical, lyrically spinning offbeat narratives about everything from witches' hats to shipwrecks to the mysteries of the Hollywood Hills. ABP released its debut recordings in 2016 in a series of pioneering physical formats. The band’s first single, "A Long Walk," was put out as a series of custom-grown succulent plants; its follow-up, "Witch Hat," was released on Halloween of the same year inside servings of limited-edition ABP branded chocolate candies. The band will share its inaugural EP, Upwelling, as both a digital download and a run of homemade model ships on April 15th, 2017.

The Academy Blues Project is currently recording its debut album at the venerable Moon Lab Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
