Biography

The Superintendent's Combo is the United States Naval Academy Band's jazz combo designated to support the many social events hosted by the Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy. The group regularly performs for local military officials and visiting dignitaries from around the globe. Under the direction of Chief Musician Colin Renick for public events, the Superintendent's Combo has become one of the most sought-after ensembles in the Naval Academy Band for concerts and clinics at schools throughout the region. The members of the combo have performed across the world. The United States Naval Academy Band, “The Navy’s Oldest and Finest,” is currently a 34 member unit that has been providing music for the Brigade of Midshipmen and surrounding community in Annapolis since 1852. Located at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, the band is comprised of professional, Navy musicians, who have studied at some of the best music schools and conservatories in the country, and who have extensive résumés in performance and teaching. The primary mission of the Naval Academy Band is to provide musical support for the Brigade of Midshipmen, and for official functions of the United States Naval Academy. Additionally, the band represents the Department of the Navy in a musical capacity, promoting community relations and enhancing the Navy's image.
