The United Voices of Metropolitan AME Church



Biography

The United Voices of Metropolitan is the foundation of the music and creative arts ministry at the historic Metropolitan A.M.E. Church. Comprised of more than 35 singers from all of the choral ensembles, The United Voices ministers varied vocal genres celebrating the great traditions of music within the African Methodist Episcopal denomination.

The United Voices leads the Metropolitan community in robust worship welcoming visitors from around the world. The choir has been featured at the Studio Theatre, the WIN Network, on the PBS News Hour and has performed for President Barack Obama. In December, the choir performed under the leadership of guest conductor Angel Gil-Ordóñez, musical director of the PostClassical Ensemble, during the 41st Presentation of Handel’s Messiah at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church.

Marty Austin Lamar at the helm, the choir continues to use the ministry of music to support and encourage the work of worship, liberation and service.
