Bhavana Reddy

Bhavana Reddy, an acclaimed Kuchipudi Dancer, younger daughter and disciple of legendary dancing couple Padmabhushans Drs. Raja Radha and Kaushalya Reddy. She is the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, Lifetime Award for Contribution to Kuchipudi Dance by Telugu Cultural Association, Austin Texas to name a few.  Since the tender age of four she has completely dedicated herself to the sacred art form of India (Kuchipudi classical dance style) as a performer in various formats solo, duet, family and group and as a teacher at Natya Tarangini, Delhi.

She began touring since she was four with her parents nationally and internationally having performed for world dignitaries and thousands of audiences in USA, UAE, Europe, South East Asia and India. She has performed for highly prestigious events and festivals such as the Sadlers Wells Festival London, Namaste India in Paris and Liechtenstein, Khajuraho Dance Festival, Elephanta Festival, Konark Festival, Elephanta Festival, etc.

In 2018, Bhavana was invited as artistic ambassador and panelist for the south sector of India Today’s South Conclave. Recently, Kamala Club Singapore and Punjab Kesari organized her solo performance in the presence of His Excellency Shri Jawed Ashraf in SIGLAP, Singapore. Fall 2018, Bhavana is currently touring USA with dance performances at Kennedy Centre, Washington, Drive East Festival in NY and SF, United States of America.

She is praised for her uninhibited Abhinaya, terrific rhythm sense and arresting stage presence no matter the character she is given.
“Bhavana is one of the most charming generation next dancers of the Kuchipudi solo tradition, besides being a musician of international repute.”
  • Rupa Srikanth, The Hindu Chennai, Solo @ Yagnaraman Festival 2015
“The best scene by far was by Bhavana Reddy who in the Hasyam sequence, with just recitation of rhythmic syllables, created a sense of mirth all the time interacting with the audience. Here is a natural funster, with a tremendous sense of timing who occupies stage space with complete confidence. The way she pranced around imitating a monkey brought the house down in laughter.”
  • Leela Venkatraman, Narthaki for ‘Rasanubhuti’ production 2017
“Bhavana entered the stage in a scintillating manner. She dances like lightening. Describing Yamuna as a daughter of Surya, sister of Yama, beloved of Lord Krishna, Bhavana evoked similar images.”
-           Sunil Kothari for The Hindu, during ‘Ganga To Kaveri production’ New Delhi 2018
