Antonio Chase



Biography

ANTONIO CHASE, tenor a native of Baltimore, MD has been featured as tenor soloist in several large oratorio works performed throughout the east coast, which include Bach’s Magnificat; Duruflé Requiem; Handel’s Messiah; Saint Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio; and the Adolphus Hailstork’s I Will Lift up Mine Eyes in which he is also the featured soloist in the Maryland Public Television recording featuring the Morgan State University Choir. Mr. Chase is a graduate of Morgan State University and has been a participant in the Baltimore Summer Opera Workshop, Maryland Lyrics Opera’s Summer Institute. He has performed with the Mid-Atlantic Symphony and Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestras under the baton of Maestro Julien Benichou. Antonio’s recent and upcoming performances include the role of Obadiah in the world premiere of the opera Highway to Canaan by Dr. J LanYe in Cleveland, OH.; Un postiglione in Puccni’s  La Fanciulla del west; and the role of Arturo in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor.  He has placed in several vocal competitions as a student and emerging artist, namely a finalist in the Harlem Opera Theatre Vocal Competition.  Antonio has toured South America with the Harlem Opera Theater in concert performances of African American music and composers. Antonio is a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America INC., The AKOBEN Foundation INC. and The Washington National Opera Chorus. He recognizes the growth and strength of his talent can be attributed to the foundation led at the Baltimore School for the Arts, also working with coaches and teachers such as Lauretta Young, Robert Cantrell, Paul Spence Adkins, and Vincent Dion Stringer.

Video 12/23/2018: Messiah Sing-Along

Be part of Washington’s most popular free holiday event, the Kennedy Center’s Messiah Sing-Along. Back by popular demand, the evening concert features conductor Nancia D’Alimonte as she leads members of the Opera House Orchestra, guest soloists, a chorus of 200, and a very enthusiastic audience in Handel’s masterpiece. A family and community tradition since 1971!

Handel's Messiah - Novello Edition will be available for purchase at the Kennedy Center starting a week before the performance. 

Free general admission tickets will be distributed in the Hall of Nations starting at approximately 4:30 p.m., up to two tickets per person.
