Biography

Kelly Green is a pianist, vocalist, bandleader, and composer originally from Orlando, Florida who has found her own unique sound within the New York City jazz scene. Her first self-released album “Life Rearranged”(2017) featuring luminaries such as Christian McBride and Steve Nelson placed her in high standing among legendary musicians with glowing reviews from notable critics as well as substantial air-play throughout the country and world.

Featuring bassist Alex Tremblay and drummer Evan Hyde, the Kelly Green Trio has created a distinguishable ensemble sound through their spontaneous collective consciousness within their improvisations as well as their distinctive arranging style. Having been together for one year and eight months they have built up quite a resume having travelled to perform and educate in Colombia, Florida, San Francisco, and throughout New England as well as maintained several residencies in NYC. Some highlight performances include the New Haven Jazz Festival featuring the legendary George Coleman, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, and Birdland Theater. They released their first self-released project as a group, Kelly Green Trio “Volume One”, on December 5th, 2018 which has received substantial radio play as well as outstanding reviews from Jazziz, AllAboutJazz, Jazz Times, and the NYC Jazz Record. They strive to continue to foster a love for the tradition and continuation of jazz as a musical art form, language, and culture by playing selections from the Great American Songbook, Jazz standards and deep-cuts from noteworthy recordings, as well as new original compositions by Kelly Green. The Kelly Green Trio pay homage to the Nat King Cole legacy by performing reimagined arrangements of his classics and deep cuts. After being a dedicated working band for a year-and-a-half, they have created a signature ensemble sound and are delighted to perform new and old material, honoring the history while staying relevant to society today.
