Biography

With its present home on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, The United States Air Force Band is the Air Force’s premier musical organization. Its mission is to honor those who have served, inspire American citizens to heightened patriotism and service, and positively impact the global community on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and the United States of America.

Through world-class musical presentations and ceremonies, The U.S. Air Force Band helps create bonds between the United States and the worldwide community. Using music to bridge language, cultural, societal and socio-economic differences, the Band’s performances advance international relationships and inspire positive and long-lasting impressions of the U.S. Air Force and the United States of America. The excellence demonstrated by our Airmen musicians is a reflection of the excellence carried out 24 hours a day by Airmen stationed around the globe. These professionals are proud to represent all Airmen, whose selfless service and sacrifices ensure the freedoms we enjoy as American citizens.

This organization consists of six performing ensembles: the Air Force Strings, Airmen of Note, Ceremonial Brass, Concert Band, Max Impact, and Singing Sergeants. They present more than 1,600 performances annually, as well as reaching millions via radio and television broadcasts and the Internet.

The United States Air Force Concert Band is an internationally-recognized symphonic wind ensemble, and the largest of the six groups within the Band. This ensemble performs a wide variety of music ranging from light classics, popular favorites, instrumental features and patriotic selections, to classical transcriptions and original works for the band idiom. Remaining true to the Air Force's pioneering spirit, the Concert Band has established an international reputation as a champion of new works for band, with dozens of world premieres to its credit. Performing regularly for the general public in the greater Washington, D.C. area, The Air Force Concert Band is also in constant demand by many of the world's most highly respected professional musical organizations throughout the nation.

Since its formation in 1941, people of every race, color, creed, walk of life, and ideology have enjoyed performances by The U.S. Air Force Band. Delivering powerful Air Force messages while inspiring its audience members, the Concert Band is proud to represent the United States as a component of The United States Air Force Band.
