Capilla del Sol

Capilla del Sol, an Argentine baroque ensemble, performs sacred and secular music from the colonial era composed for Jesuit missions in Latin America. The repertoire was typically performed by indigenous choirs and instrumentalists. Drawing on the work of musicologists who have helped bring this work to light, Capilla del Sol presents rarely heard music of the 17th and early 18th century for voice and instruments. This concert is the first program in the series ÔÇťArgentina at the Smithsonian 2010."
