Biography

Each year outstanding young musicians with disabilities from around the world receive the VSA International Young Soloists Award, $2,000, and the opportunity to perform at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., which is live-streamed and archived on the Kennedy Center website. Learn more about the VSA International Young Soloists Competition here.

A showcase of the winners of the 2017 VSA International Young Soloists Competition, a Jean Kennedy Smith Arts and Disability Program, in its 33rd year recognizing outstanding musicians with disabilities, aged 14–25, from around the world. The concert features: Elliott McClain (TN), piano; Kohlin Sekizawa (CA), piano; Natalie Sheppard (OH), mezzo-soprano; and Jessica Tucker (NV), saxophone.

This concert recognizes outstanding musicians from around the world, ages 14-25, who have a disability: pianists Ignasi Cambra (Spain) and Justin Kauflin (Virginia), saxophonist Yongsit Yongkamol (Thailand), and William Eisenberg (Minnesota) on the French horn.
