The Sweater Set


The Sweater Set—duo Maureen Andary and Sara Curtin–make original music using an impressive variety of instruments including banjo, accordion, flute, ukulele, glockenspiel and guitar, not to mention their lushly harmonizing voices. The Sweater Set was awarded the Washington Area Music Award for Best Contemporary Folk Duo for the last three consecutive years. They have toured throughout Ireland, the UK, & the Northeast & Southern United States, opened for Dar Williams at The Birchmere, performed at The Kennedy Center, and served as Artists-in-Residence at the Strathmore Center for the Performing Arts in Bethesda, Maryland

Listen Local First presents local folkstresses The Sweater Set and Jessica Eliot Myhre of the Bumper Jacksons and Letitia VanSant who will perform vintage love songs in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The duo backs up their vocal harmonies with ukulele, clarinet, guitar, and upright bass.

Catch the spirit of the Kennedy Center’s upcoming international festival IBERIAN SUITE: global arts remix with a Ukulele Jam. Bring your ukulele (an instrument that came to the Hawaiian Islands from the Iberian Peninsula, derived from the Portuguese braguinha string guitar) for a strum-along from 5 to 6 p.m., followed by a performance with D.C. uke stars The Sweater Set and Louisa Hall. The show closes with a full audience strum- and sing-along! Strum-along participants should know chords C, F, G, and A minor.
