Montgomery County Youth Chorus

Biography

The Montgomery County Youth Chorus (MCYC) is one of five countywide choral ensembles. It provides special performance opportunities and recognition for talented singers in Grades 9–12. All participants in MCYC are active members of their school choral programs, and many go on to be selected as members of Maryland All-State Chorus and the All-Eastern Chorus, sponsored by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA). Students in MCYC have the opportunity to share their skills with others and interact with talented peers who demonstrate similar musical abilities and interests.

For more than 30 years, the Montgomery County Youth Chorus has provided gifted and talented singers the opportunity to perform major works from the choral literature. The group has performed with the National Symphony, the Millbrook Symphony, the Montgomery County Youth Orchestra, and Masterworks Chorus and Orchestra.
