Biography

MetroPerforms! Showcase features ten performances by selected artists who participate in the MetroPerforms! Program, which is a performing arts component of the Metro Art in Transit Program. Metro Performs! features live performances at Metro stations in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia during warm-weather months.

Acappella trio, The Light, featuring vocalists, Herbert Johnson, Nels Olson and Terence Hope, performs popular and original rhythm and blues and inspirational music. The Light performs widely at venues along the east coast, including the Kennedy Center, the Jacob Javitz Center and the Apollo Theatre.

Multi-instrumentalist, Kristoffer Wright has been performing his unique style of fusions of classical, folk, jazz and Caribbean music for the past 20 years. Kristoffer, who is also a singer-song writer and composer, performs regularly at weddings and other special events, including a recent performance on the National Mall.

Storyteller, Nana Malaya tells stories of African and African-American culture through music, songs and poetry. Nana, who is also artistic director of the Nubian Theater, Dance and Music Company, has performed around the world at venues in Scotland, Japan, Cuba and Ghana, to name few.

Harpist, Nora Kelsall plays the full-size classic harp and the smaller Irish harp. Nora, an award-winning soloist, has performed with many youth orchestras and ensembles at venues and at special events throughout the Washington, DC region, including the Strathmore Arts Center.
