Mark Aanderud


Mark Aanderud, an American-born pianist, conductor, composer, arranger and singer, grew up in Mexico City, Mexico. It was there that he acquired a great love for international music. His training included concert piano studies, voice training, composition and other related conservatory classes in Mexico City and Monterrey, Mexico.

As a teen, Mr. Aanderud toured the United States with his familyÆs gospel ensemble, playing piano and singing in churches and community centers. Featured regularly on Mexican National Television, he eventually went on to host his own show for four years on MexicoÆs Channel 7.

From 1978 through 1984, Mr. Aanderud directed the State of Mexico Symphonic Band. In 1981, he was named conductor of the Sagitarius Orchestra of the State of Mexico, made up of 50 local and international musicians performing a wide range of musical selections. In 1982, he founded the State of Mexico Chamber Orchestra and the Sagitarius Dixieland Band.

As a pianist, Mr. Aanderud has offered classical concerts throughout the United States and Mexico. He has recorded five albums under the Orfeon label. He currently resides in the Washington metropolitan area.
