Biography

Jazz guitarist Steve Abshire's accomplished musical style is distilled from years of influence and study with jazz greats Herb Ellis, Joe Pass, Barney Kessel, and Steve Jordan. Mr. Abshire has used his musical abilities in a wide range of settings. In addition to his many years as guitarist with the Navy's premiere jazz ensemble, The Commodores, he has accompanied well-known vocalists Della Reese, Rosemary Clooney, Etta Jones, Joe Williams, and Diane Shuur. He has appeared in concert with the Great Guitars as Barney Kessel's substitute, and he has appeared twice at the famed Jazz in Marciac Jazz Festival in France. Mr. Abshire has recorded numerous albums with Washington, D.C., artists, including one with his own quartet, Big Brass Bed Blues.
