L’Acadco

Biography

L’Acadco is widely regarded as Jamaica’s leading contemporary dance company, and is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Artistic Director Dr. L’Antoniette Stines uses an eclectic Caribbean contemporary technique called L’Antech which synthesizes Jamaican Afro-Caribbean forms, and contains elements of reggae, rocksteady, ska, dancehall and raga; it also has a distinctive spiritual element that unites body, mind and soul.

L’Acadco’s work exudes a revolutionary fusion of rich Caribbean folklore with contemporary themes. Dancers classically trained in jazz, ballet and African dance come from Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Guyana, the Bahamas, Suriname and Jamaica. The program is one hour without intermission.
