The J.H. Blake High School String Quartet

Biography

The J. H. Blake High School String Quartet, from Silver Spring, Maryland, has been performing together for the last two years. The ensemble was formed when the school received numerous requests for performances. Many of the requests were for intimate settings such as receptions, where only a small ensemble would be appropriate. The members of the quartet decided they would take up the challenge of learning some of the string quartet literature in order to accept some of these requests. Since that time they have performed a several private and school functions. All four members study privately on their instrument. Most have received honors at the county and state level, including membership in the Montgomery County Youth Orchestra, Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra, Montgomery County Schools Honors Orchestra, and the Maryland All-State Orchestra.
