Anne Watts & Boister

Biography

Anne Watts & Boister are international recording artists based in Baltimore. Their debut album, Boister, was released in Europe and Japan to critical acclaim. Their second album, Song of the Smoke, features lyrics by Bertolt Brecht and was called "an excellent surprise" by the French press. Each album has earned Ms. Watts an Individual Artist Award in composition from the Maryland State Arts Council.

The ensemble's original score for Buster Keaton's Steamboat Bill, Jr. was commissioned by the Walters Art Gallery's film series and debuted at the Charles Theater in Baltimore in 1998. Steamboat Bill, Jr. is considered one of the great silent movies of Mr. Keaton's career, created at a time when he had paramount control over the content of his films. Most memorable for its startling displays of death-defying acrobatics, the film features a strong supporting cast and an abundance of classic slapstick.
