Megan Cohen


Megan Cohen is one of the most-produced playwrights under 35, with over 100 readings and productions of her scripts worldwide. Called "a ruthless innovator" (SF Weekly), "funny, erudite, and poignant" (Poetry Monthly), and "one insightful and confident woman with a devilish sense of humor" (Huffington Post), her artistic partners have included Berkeley Repertory Theatre (Berkeley, CA), American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NY, NY), the Neo-Futurists (San Francisco, Edinburgh, and Melbourne), and the Southbank Centre (London, UK). New to the world of opera, in 2017 she was awarded "Best Librettist" by Opera Theater Unlimited for her debut short "Full Moon Bender." "Bridge for Three" with American Opera Initiative is her first professionally-commissioned libretto. She lives, works, and teaches in the San Francisco Bay Area. Education: B.A. in Drama, Stanford University.
