James Kennedy



Biography

James Kennedy is a playwright and composer based in New York City. His plays include And One (2018 O’Neill Semifinalist); Trudy, Carolyn, Martha, and Regina Travel to Outer Space and Have a Pretty Terrible Time There (2016 Humana Festival of New American Plays, Williamstown Theatre Festival); The Tire (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston); and the musical The Great Big Work (Playing for Others), among others. He is a recipient of the Betsey Carpenter Playwriting Award and the Rod Parker Playwriting Fellowship, and was an inaugural recipient of Superhero Clubhouse’s Science and Stage Fellowship. He is the composer-in-residence at Playing for Others in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he is the Artistic Associate of Education and Outreach at The Orchard Project. Kennedy received his education from the Professional Training Company at Actors Theatre of Louisville and Emerson College.
