About

Takács Quartet
Edward Dusinberre, violin; Karóly Schranz, violin; Geraldine Walther, viola; András Fejér, cello

"They play with a taut, compelling immediacy, a lightness and flexibility of tone."
--The Washington Post

Recognized as one of the world's great ensembles, the Grammy-winning Takács Quartet plays with a unique blend of drama, warmth, and humor, combining four distinct musical personalities to bring fresh insights to the string quartet repertoire. In 2012, Gramophone announced that the Takács was the only string quartet to be inducted into its first Hall of Fame.

Their performances of the complete cycle of Bartók quartets were a highlight of the 2013–2014 Fortas season. The Takács Quartet returns with music of Dvorák and Webern's Langsamer Satz, said to have been inspired by a hiking holiday Webern took with his future wife. Beethoven's final Razumovsky Quartet closes the program.

Performance Timing: Approximately 1-1/2 hours, including one 15-minute intermission

Note: The Takács Quartet will sign CDs following the performance, in the States Gallery outside of the Terrace Theater.
