Xavier Foley, double bass (Debut)

A master of his (unusual) solo instrument, double bassist Xavier Foley has attracted recognition since the age of 16 when he took First Prize in the 2011 International Society of Bassists Competition, followed by the 2014 Astral Artists Auditions. His win at the 2014 Sphinx Competition brought appearances as a soloist with the Atlanta Symphony, the Nashville Symphony, and the Sphinx Virtuosi at Carnegie Hall. As a First Prize Winner of the 2016 YCA International Auditions, he also received four special concert prizes. A participant at the Marlboro Festival, he studied with Edgar Meyer at the Curtis Institute and joins Chamber Music Society II in 2018.
