Washington Performing Arts Orchestra Series
Orchestre National de France
Daniele Gatti, conductor
Julian Rachlin, violin

The Orchestre National de France returns to Washington, D.C., after an eight year absence. Violinist Julian Rachlin, "a virtuoso of uncompromising tonal purity" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), joins the orchestra for Shostakovich's Violin Concerto No. 1. In this program, the orchestra's rich sonic palette will be on display as conductor Daniele Gatti brings his "natural charisma, authority, and energy to the late-Romantic and early 20th-century repertoire" (The Guardian).

Performance Timing: Part One - 45 min.; Intermission - 18 min.; Part Two - 50 min.
