Swan Lake Music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Choreography by James Kudelka
Founded in 1951, The National Ballet of Canada has established an international reputation as a company that can "strut its stuff in the grandest of balletic traditions" (The Toronto Sun). Recognized as one of the world's best interpreters of full-evening classics such as Giselle, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty, its repertoire also includes contemporary works.
Under the artistic direction of Karen Kain, The National Ballet of Canada returns to the Kennedy Center to perform Kudelka's triumphant full-length version of Swan Lake, which Toronto's National Post calls "visually spectacular." This tale of romance, magic, treachery, and transformation, performed to Tchaikovsky's masterful score, is "magic on stage" says the Toronto Star. "This Swan Lake moves like lightning…rows and rows of swans, elegance against turmoil, and round after round of bravura dancing."
"The entire company soars…pure gold" --The Toronto Sun
