HOUSTON BALLET
Ben Stevenson, Artistic Director

Fifty years ago, it would have been hard to imagine a world-class ballet company flourishing in the oil-and-cattle boom town of Houston, Texas. But today, this company ranks among the most respected in the country. In his 22 years as artistic director, Ben Stevenson has stocked the company with internationally acclaimed dancers and its repertoire with a dazzling mix of classics and daring new works. In this engagement, Houston Ballet brings a work which is sure to be remembered as both: Stevenson's sexy, spectacular full-length production of DRACULA, "a spectacle of an order ballet audiences seldom see today," filled with "lavish, exquisitely beautiful sets, costumes, and lighting...ingenious stage magic...passion" (Jennifer Dunning, The New York Times). A sellout hit in its home town and on tour, DRACULA is sure to draw record crowds.
