"Its never-fail dependability--superlative dancers, tight, driving works--is surely unbeaten in the dance world."
--The Washington Post
"The popularity that the Ailey company now enjoys is phenomenal."
--The New York Times
One of the world's favorite dance companies, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater returns to show off the brilliant artistry and passionate energy that bring audiences around the globe to their feet night after night. What makes this phenomenal company so special is the incomparable sense of joy, freedom and spirit that the dancers and audiences share. Discover for yourself what millions of fans already know--you don't just see an Ailey performance, you feel it.
As part of this mixed repertory program, the Company celebrates 50 years of Revelations, an enduring classic that has been seen by more audiences around the world than any other modern dance. "The crowd starts cheering before the curtain goes up" (The New York Times). This tribute to Ailey's African American heritage uses traditional spirituals to explore the places of deepest grief and holiest joy in the human soul.

Also in the engagement are Anointed, a premiere by Christopher L. Huggins, the return of Artistic Director and Kennedy Center Honoree Judith Jamison's Forgotten Time, two works by Artistic Director Designate Robert Battle, In/Side and The Hunt, and Geoffrey Holder's Prodigal Prince. Additional repertory favorites include Ailey's Three Black Kings, Night Creature, and Cry, and Camille A. Brown's The Evolution of a Secured Feminine. All works are accompanied by recorded music.
