About

Who could have imagined that burrowed within the Waltz--that eternal symbol of the charms of old Vienna--a vibrant sexuality and socially subversive force was released? What began in the wine villages turned into veritable bacchanals in suburban gardens, leaving visitors shocked, shocked at the public display. It needed only Johann Strauss, Jr. to bring that spirit to the rest of the world. Lecturer Saul Lilienstein will share the history and heady ebullience that swept across 19th century Europe--in three-quarter time. Note: The NSO does not perform in this event.

Part of The Music of Budapest, Prague, and Vienna.
