Join dance critic Alexandra Tomalonis as she uses video of well-known ballets to take us beyond the steps and into the craft of ballet. Each session uses a company or ballet being presented during the 2015–2016 season as the jumping off point for a deeper exploration of the art form.

Ballet 360°: Sleeping Beauty Reawakened
Marius Petipa's The Sleeping Beauty is widely regarded as the great classical ballet. But is what we see today really what he created? Alexei Ratmansky, known for his imaginative choreography and exceptional musicality, conducted extensive research for his production and discovered many surprises in both the choreography and style in which the ballet was originally danced. He's created a wonder ball of a ballet; what surprises did he discover?

Lecture Timing: 90 minutes with no intermission
