About

Pianist Joseph Kalichstein, violinist Jaime Laredo and cellist Sharon Robinson have set the standard for performance of the piano trio literature for more than a quarter of a century. The Trio, Musical America’s Ensemble of the Year 2002, has graced the stage of the Terrace Theater many times throughout those years. Now, with the Trio, we celebrate its new appointment as Kennedy Center Chamber Ensemble in Residence, beginning with this concert.  The Chicago Sun-Times states succinctly, “There is no finer piano trio than Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson.” The Daily Telegraph (London) agrees, “This is one of the finest chamber music groups in the business…playing of a wonderful, unexaggerated expressiveness and warmth.” Of soprano Dominique Labelle, Richard Dyer has reported in The Boston Globe that “Labelle (is) an exceptional recitalist…She has the gift of combining intensity with informality, of putting an audience at its ease, even while challenging its full attention.” Flutist Tara Helen O’Connor “gave a marvelous performance”(The New York Times).
