About

The Hawthorne String Quartet’s recording, Chamber Music from Theresienstadt, has received international critical acclaim, and won the Preis der Schallplattenkritik in 1991. “James Conlon, the American principal conductor of the Paris Opera…has championed Zemlinsky’s music in recent years, and his affection for the composer was profusely evident (in)…an avalanche of poetic radiance…instrumental grandeur… exceptional detail and shimmering qualities” (Donald Rosenberg, The Cleveland Plain Dealer).
