About

Part of the Kennedy Center "250 Years of Mozart" celebration

Revered for its distinctively rich sound and majestic playing, this award-winning ensemble is one of the world's most celebrated string quartets; a model for other quartets and a perennial joy for listeners. The New York Times says the Guarneri "has no superior on the world's stages," while the Miami Herald raves, "Some things, like the Guarneri, are as good as it gets." Each year, the oft-honored quartet performs just one concert in Washington, D.C.--and this is it. For its 2005 engagement, the Guarneri presents three extraordinary string quartets, including Mozart's daring "Dissonance" quartet; Danielpour's String Quartet No. 5; and one of Mendelssohn's beloved string quartets, the buoyant and virtuosic String Quartet in D major.
