Part of the Citywide Festival Shakespeare in Washington
An integral part of British musical life for more than 40 years, The Nash Ensemble of London boasts an eclectic repertoire, from the classics to the contemporary to lesser-known gems for harp and wind instruments. As part of the citywide Shakespeare in Washington celebration, the ensemble performs a Bard-inspired world-premiere commission composed for the group by David Matthews. The new work will feature opera star Susan Bickley, hailed as a performer "with astonishing beauty and power" by The Guardian (London). Other program highlights include Stravinsky's harmonic Three Songs from William Shakespeare, two works by Mozart, and Ravel's Introduction and Allegro--a shimmering septet in which the harp takes center stage.
