Eugene Onegin in Concert

Note (as of Feb. 4): The performance date for Eugene Onegin in Concert has been changed to Fri., Feb. 26. This is one day earlier than previously scheduled.

Conducted by General and Artistic Director Valery Gergiev, Tchaikovsky's riveting opera Eugene Onegin is performed in concert for one night only. Based on the Pushkin novel, one of the most treasured works of Russian literature, the opera follows the dashing and worldly gentleman Eugene Onegin, who will come to regret his blasé rejection of the impressionable country girl Tatiana's love and his careless incitement of a fatal duel with his best friend Lensky. The Mariinsky's performances of the work at the Kennedy Center in 2003 (as Kirov Opera) were "one of the great musical events of the season" (The Washington Post).
