About

The week of his 85th birthday, NEA Jazz Master Randy Weston brings his African Rhythms Trio--Alex Blake, bass, and Neil Clarke, African percussion--featuring drummer Lewis Nash. After contributing six decades of musical direction and genius, Randy Weston remains one of the world's foremost pianists and composers today, a true innovator and visionary. Langston Hughes proclaimed that when Randy plays, "a combination of strength and gentleness, virility and velvet emerges from the keys." The Village Voice calls Lewis Nash, who has played with jazz legends Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Benny Carter, and Hank Jones, "resourceful, inventive, subtle, and infallibly tasteful."
