About

Saxophonist Javon Jackson returns with an all-star group of colleagues--George Cables, piano, Eddie Henderson, trumpet, David Williams, bass, and Billy Drummond, drums--many of whom played and recorded with late NEA Jazz Master trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, in whose honor they will perform. As a member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Jackson carved out his own niche of hard bop and soul sound under the eye of the legendary drummer. "Javon adds a modern twist to the music we grew up with," said Branford Marsalis. "Everybody get ready for a funky good time."
