One show only! Heralded by Quincy Jones as "one of the greatest musicians of our time," NEA Jazz Master harmonica player Toots Thielemans makes a rare DC appearance with longtime collaborator, pianist Kenny Werner. Thielemans was born in Brussels in 1922 and immigrated to the United States in 1952; his first concert in the U.S. was with Kennedy Center Artistic Director for Jazz Dr. Billy Taylor. His trademark harmonica playing can be heard in movie scores such as Midnight Cowboy and Sugarland Express, as well as the classic theme to the television show Sesame Street. The mastery of his instrument is evident in his performances with Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, Billy Joel, and Paquito D'Rivera.
