About

The Tokyo String Quartet has captivated audiences and critics alike since it was founded 40 years ago. Regarded as one of the supreme chamber ensembles of the world, it has collaborated with a remarkable array of artists and composers, built a comprehensive catalogue of critically acclaimed recordings, and established a distinguished teaching record. Performing more than a hundred concerts worldwide each season, the quartet has a devoted following across the globe. The Ottawa Citizen hails their playing as "close to magical. The entire performance was a model of focus…gripping from the first measure to the last."

Performing quartets by Mozart, Szymanowski, and Dvorák on the renowned Paganini Stradivarius instruments in their Fortas Chamber Music Concerts debut, the Tokyo's "glistening interpretations" (CNN.com) set the gold standard for "exemplary chamber music" (The New York Times).
