About

The Orion String Quartet, who the Los Angeles Times hails for its "consistently beguiling and technically impeccable" artistry, is one of the most sought-after ensembles in the United States. Returning from their acclaimed Fortas performance with Windscape of Bach's The Complete Art of the Fugue in February 2011, this season the quartet reprises the Fugue's Contrapunctus 1 as well as quartets by Schubert and Brahms, and Five Pieces by Webern. Noted for performing with "commitment and striking intelligence" (The Washington Post), the group is named after the Orion constellation as a metaphor for the unique personality the musicians bring to their collective pursuit of the highest musical ideals.
