A brilliant trombonist and master technician, NEA Jazz Master Curtis Fuller is in high demand. More than 50 years of music experience includes time with the Count Basie band and, as a member of John Coltrane's sextet, recorded the legendary Blue Train album, one of the most important recordings in the history of jazz. He also played with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, making it a sextet for the first time. Harkening back to the great sextets of which he was an important part, Fuller brings his newest endeavor to the Kennedy Center, The Brasstet, where his trombone is featured with various combinations of trumpets or flugelhorns and rhythm section with five-time Grammy-winning producer Don Sickler and Bobby Shew on trumpet and flugelhorn.
