Spend Valentine's Day with singer-songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway, who is known for her sparkling jazz renditions from the Great American Songbook and for her clever, contemporary originals. The only composer to have been allowed by Cole Porter's estate to write music for a previously unrecorded Porter lyric, "I Gaze in Your Eyes," she has also written with Barbara Carroll, Carole King, and Barbra Streisand. A "jazz powerhouse" (The New York Times), Callaway's voice blends jazz with pop, her work appealing on stage and screen.
Ann will sing many of the most treasured love songs from the Great American Songbook as well as a few of her own compositions. Songs will include "My Funny Valentine," "At Last," "People/Being Alive" from the award winning show The Streisand Songbook, as well as the song she composed that Barbra sang at her wedding, "I've Dreamed of You." The audience will have a chance to give their own kiss to the night as they will be invited to call out words and phrases for a Washington D.C. love song she will compose on the spot. And of course, as Ann likes to tell her audiences, "the holding of hands is strictly encouraged."
