Chicago bassist, vocalist, and composer Katie Ernst's music is a heartfelt blend of jazz, folk, indie rock, and minimalism. She's an alumna of the Kennedy Center's 2013 and 2014 Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program and recently performed at the Chicago Symphony Center as special guest with Jason Moran. Ernst presents song settings of Dorothy Parker poetry from her newest recording project, Little Words, as well as original compositions and arrangements, joined by tenor saxophonist Dustin Laurenzi, pianist Stuart Mindeman, and drummer Andrew Green. "When Katie Ernst takes the stage you never know what you might hear. Ernst, a superb vocalist and bassist, is a wonderful interpreter of standards, but she's also been known to throw in fresh takes on pop tunes" (City Newspaper, Rochester).
