About

Returning following his star turn in the Kennedy Center's Blue Note at 75 Celebration (May 2014), saxophonist and Blue Note recording artist Joe Lovano is joined by guitarist Liberty Ellman, bassist Michael Olatuja, percussionist/African harpist Abdou Mboup, and drummer Otis Brown III with special guests Judi Silvano, vocalist; and Tim Hagans, trumpeter. For two nights, the Village Rhythms Band showcases the linear relationship between West African music and jazz in a way that is unique to Lovano's voice--warm, sinuous, and constantly moving over an emphatic pulse. "After 30 albums as a leader and at least 25 years in the spotlight, it's clear Joe Lovano is more than a dominant figure in jazz," exclaims the Wall Street Journal.

Performance Timing: 75 minutes, with no intermission.
