Grammy-nominated pianist Geoffrey Keezer, who got his start holding down the piano chair for Art Blakey, is joined by the exquisite Canadian vocalist Gillian Margot to deliver music from her latest recording, Black Butterfly.
Grammy-nominated pianist Geoffrey Keezer got his start early, playing in jazz clubs as a teenager, holding down the piano chair for Art Blakey at age 18. Now in his 40s, he's known for a singular style of intellectually abstract lyricism woven over exotically complex rhythms and harmonies, making him one of the most sought-after artists on the modern jazz scene. Keezer is joined by the exquisite Canadian vocalist Gillian Margot. A student of Oscar Peterson and Freddy Cole, she has a voice that is reminiscent of Nina Simone and Oleta Adams. She and Keezer deliver music from her latest recording, Black Butterfly.
